Another Buzz

This is a drawing of my friend Sean's son, Nathan. I went all out on this one and I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

Caricatures from 2010 (Part 2)

More themed drawings from work.
WOLVERINE
SPIDER-MAN
HUMAN TORCH
THE FLASH
I broke my "Marvel Only" rule because I really wanted to draw the Flash.
TRON
This couple asked to be in Tron outfits.
CAPTAIN REX
I still don't really know who this character is.
JESSIE
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR
I drew Sami and Kiki over the summer and they were nice enough to email me this picture. I love drawing animals, but I don't get many opportunities to do so at work. Once I got to do a portrait of a helper dog in-training, and sometimes people bring in photos of pets for me, like the one I used for Kiki. I hope I get more animals to draw this year!
I still avoid drawing princesses, faeries, and mermaids. Lame.

Caricatures from 2010 (Part 1)

These past couple months at work I've been doing more themed drawings, namely super hero stuff. I figured since Disney bought Marvel, I should be allowed to draw Marvel heroes. I later found out that this really isn't the case and I could probably get in trouble for it, but until that happens, I'll continue drawing them.HULK
This was my very first hero-cature. My co-worker Mark.
NICK FURY
Co-worker Caesar
CAPTAIN AMERICA
Co-worker Brian

Learning...

Here are some warm-up sketches of the Avatar: The Last Airbender characters. I'm still pretty far off-model, but I think I'm improving.

New-ish Stuff

These are some sketches I made based on a character that my friend Adolph created. The design is not finalized, but I like where it's going.

The last image is of some thumbnails from the middle of the story. I've thumbed out the whole story, but I'm intimidated by the thought of doing finished storyboards. There's still so much for me to learn about drawing and boarding! It's exciting and scary at the same time.

Life Drawing and Caricatures

I think this lady used to model for Boris Vallejo, the fantasy illustrator.

In between poses, or when I start to get bored, I like to caricature other people in the room. Life drawing sessions are a great place to draw other artists.

Look what I made at work today!

Today, a dad asked me to draw his four children over a dinner table about to eat a meal made by their mom. This is a surprise Mother's Day present and he gave me lots of reference pictures of his kids to draw from. This was a bit of a challenge from what I normally do at work, and it took me a while to do, but I like the way it came out. The painting on the knife and turkey were happy accidents; I really wasn't sure what I was doing at the time.
I know I haven't posted in a very long time, but I will be back with more stuff soon! Thanks to all my imaginary fans!
